Balsaminaceae (commonly known as the balsam family) are a family of dicotyledonousplants, comprising two genera and 850+ species, all but one of which belong to the genusImpatiens. The flowering plants may be annual or perennial and are found throughouttemperate and tropical regions, including North America, Asia, Europe and Africa.
