Description:
Annual or perennial herbaceous plants, shrubs, rarely woods. Leaves consecutive or opposite, sometimes in basal rosette, whole, lacerated, serrated, rarely entire, without stipules. Blossoms bisexual, rarely unisexual harvested collected in cluster-like or besom-like or thyroid inflorescences, rarely single. Perianth composed of calyx and corolla, rarely simple - a cup-shaped, 5 -, rarely 4 - or 10 divisions. Torus pipy, bell-shaped to a discoid, or less or many accreted to the ovary. Sepals 5, rarely 4 or less fused at the base. Petals 5 , rarely 4 , free, rarely missing. Stamens usually twice the sepals and petals, rarely equal to the number of them or multiple, sometimes develop staminodii. Pistil of 2, less than 3 - 5 fused fruit - sheets with upper, lower or lower half ovary, rarely fruit - sheets closed separately. The bars in equal number as fruit - sheets, rarely missing; stigma sessile. Fruit multi-seed box or strawberry. Seeds are small, with abundant endosperm and a small facing bud. Insect pollinated plants. Propagated by seeds except with outgrowths, cuttings, bulbs.
