English Name: Hogweed, Cow parsnipDescription: Biannual to perennial herbaceous plants with spindle or irregular rhizomes. Stems ribbed and grooved or rough ribbed polygonal, in its upper part vertebra like or sequentially branched in the lower part verrucose, up fibrous, fully fluffy or fibrous diverted. Leaves simple, lobed, palmate or divided pinnate similar. End shares downward or not downward along veins. Complex awnings and canopies with a sheath of grassy leaflets or uncoated. Calyx 5 teeth or missing. Petals ovate, narrowly heart-shaped, oval, end flowers larger, atop a deep cut to split, weak or unscrewing deep, greenish yellow, pink or white. Fruit oblate, elliptical to circular; filamentary ribs, end-winged, single channel, shorter than fruit. The stilopodium conical, domed, at the base wrinkled.
Economic significance. Sources of essential oils. Some species are used for food. In folk medicine used for the preparation of infusions and extracts against epilepsy as a diuretic agent. Good honey plants.

Heracleum is a genus of about 60 species (depending on taxonomic interpretation) of biennial and perennial herbs in the carrot family Apiaceae. They are found throughout the temperate northern hemisphere and in high mountains as far south as Ethiopia. Common names for the genus or its species include hogweed[1] and cow parsnip.[2][3]
