Description:
Perennial, rarely biennial herbaceous plants or semi-shrubs, almost nude to tufted fibrous. Stems single or multiple, upright, simple or branched. The stem leaves are jagged, feathered or squashed, with petioles or sitting down up to semi enclosing the petiole. Baskets single or multiple, collected in more or less thyroid inflorescences. Inflorescences usually longer than 1/4 of the length of the sheath, linear. The sheath leaves lance to oblong rhombic or ovate lance, naked or fibrous. Paganist blossoms in number usually as envelope leaflets, elliptical or elliptic lance, sometimes undeveloped, yellow, orange yellow to reddish. Fruit trees almost cylindrical, bare or fibrous, pale or dark brown to reddish brown. The kite white, dirty white to pale brownish. Propagate with seeds and vegetative.

Jacobaea is a genus of the tribe Senecioneae and the family Asteraceae. Its members used to be placed in the genus Senecio,[2] but have been separated into the segregate genus Jacobaea on the basis of molecular phylogenetics in order to maintain genera that are monophyletic.[3] The following species are recognised by The Plant List:[4]
