Secondary they contain the composition of dry matter of 30% of starch, protein 5 - 6%, basorin (mucilage containing Arab and dextrin) 40 - 50%. Orchidaceae tubers are used for the preparation of the glue. Some types contain a glycoside in which hydrolyze coumarin formed, so that such plants drying emit aroma of coumarin.

Note:
After forming the second volume of the „Флората” of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, a part of the species of Genus Orchis L. are separated in a new Genus Dactylorhiza Necker ex Nevski, (1937). Main indication is the palm-similar tuber, which determinate the name of the Genus - Marsh orchid. This genus is presented in Bulgaria with 8 species, according to the authors of FLORA BULGARICA:
- Dactylorhiza baumaniana
- Dactylorhiza cordigera (Fries.) Soó
- Dactylorhiza incarnata (L.) Soó
- Dactylorhiza kalopsii
- Dactylorhiza pindica
- Dactylorhiza romana (Sib. et Mauri) Soó
- Dactylorhiza saccifera (Brongn.) Soó
- Dactylorhiza sambucina (L.) Soó

Orchis is a genus in the orchid family (Orchidaceae), occurring mainly in Europe and Northwest Africa, and ranging as far as Tibet, Mongolia, and Xinjiang.[1] The name is from the Ancient Greek ὄρχις orchis, meaning "testicle", from the appearance of the paired subterranean tuberoids. Description
These terrestrial orchids have root tubers instead of pseudobulbs. They are extremely diverse in appearance. They produce an erect stem. The inflorescence is a cylindrical to globular spike, 5–15 cm (2–6 in) long, with yellow, red to purple flowers. They start flowering at the base, slowly progressing upwards, except for the Monkey orchid (Orchis simia), which flowers in reverse order.
The original genus Orchis used to contain more than 1,300 names. Since it was polyphyletic, it has been divided by Pridgeon et al., into several new genera (see Reference): Ponerorchis, Schizodium, Steveniella.
