Description:
These are perennial plants 30 – 60 cm high. The stem is upright and wooly. The leafs are alternative disposed, and more than the middle divided in 7 parts. The diameter of the leafs is 5 – 10 cm. The corolla leafs are grow round, enlarged, up to back out. The calyx leafs are point-like without beard. The walnut is with a beard 2 – 3 cm long. G. phaeum is a erect, clump-forming perennial with lobed leaves often with brownish markings, and flat, outward-facing dusky purple, lilac or white flowers 2 cm wide in late spring and early summer.
Flowering Time: Blooms: V - VIII, fruitful: VI - IX.

Distribution in Bulgaria:
These plants are growing on damp and shady, stony, bushy and woody places, in the plains, foothills and mountains, in front of the Balkan, Sofia region, „Знеполски” region, Vitosha mountain region, Rila-, “Средна гора”-, Rhodope mountains, low land of Thrace, from 100 up to 1800 m altitude.
Distribution: Central- and South Europe.
