English Name: yellowtuftDescription: Perennial plant. Tuft-like. Rhizome thick, woody, strongly branched. Stems 8 - 60 (120) cm high, numerous, erect, at the base without sterile leaf rosettes, at the bottom woody, covered with fit or spreading star-shaped hairs, leafy during the inflorescence. Basal leaves collected in dense rosette, shovel-shaped, entire, drooping during flowering; stem leaves 10 - 20 mm long and 3 - 6 mm wide, oval-lance back, wedge-shaped thin, pointed or blunt at the apex, green above and as the stems and rosette leaves covered with fit or spreading sparse hairs, and silver-white, densely covered below star-shaped hairs, in the grooves with sterile leaf rosettes. Inflorescences 5 - 15 cm long, dense, thyroid. Sepals about 2 mm long, broadly lance, covered with stellar hairs, with the pods disappearing. Petals about 2 - 3.5 mm long, oblong ovate or broadly elliptical, golden yellow, rounded and suddenly narrowed into the nail, often covered with star-like hair outside, rarely on one side of the nail with 1 - 2 teeth similar to the spur. Stamens about 2 mm long, all with outgrowths. The pods are 2.5 - 4.8 mm in diameter, flattened, covered with star-shaped hairs, round, elliptical, rarely ovate to back-hearth-shaped. Seeds 6 mm long, flattened, with winged edge. Wings 2 - 4 times narrower than seed width.

The leaves, as well as the stems, are almost white, with dense hairs close together. Belasitsa (Kalabak village).Note. The species is very polymorphic. A number of forms, mainly described by E. Nyarady in Bul., Are common in Bulgaria. City. Bot. Cluj, VI (1926) 72 et Syn. Gen. Alyssum (1955) 106, having no taxonomic value.

Alyssum murale (yellowtuft) is a perennial herb/ (family Brassicaceae) with tiny yellow flowers and narrow leaves found in the southern and northeastern ranges of Oregon. It is native to Southeastern Europe. It favors woodland habitats. It spreads via wind and human activities. Its seeds attach to nearby growing plants.
