Description:

A perennial plant. Stem thin, not stiffening is, accumbens, outgrowing or errect, branched, 5.0 - 60.0 (90.0) cm long, round, thick-fitting or fitting mixed and spread fiber, rarely almost naked.  Leaves basal or along the entire flowering stem, imparipinnate, rarely ate triple or single; axis (7.0) 10.0 - 30.0 (60.0) mm long, at the base expanded in membranous vagina. Leaflets (1) 5 - 11 (15), narrow to the wide elliptical or ovoid, with basal (1) 3 - 5 (7) uneven leaflets, a side smaller, (7.0) 10.0 - 20.0 mm long and (2.0) 3.0 - 8.0 (12.0) mm wide or they are missing, the leaflet on top big, (10.0) 15.0 - 35.0 (65.0) mm long and (7.0) 10.0 - 20.0 (40.0) mm wide. Stem leaves with (3) 5 - 7 (15) leaflets, (7.0) 10.0 - 20.0 (40.0) mm long and 3.0 - 8.0 (12.0) mm wide, more or less equal or differ each other, all basically wedge narrowed, almost sessile or with short stems, the tip pointed or blunt, entire, both sides in a lying or spread fibrous, green to gray-green. Multiple flowers, grouped in dense panicles of head on the tips of the twigs, at the base with two (5.0) 7.0 - 12.0 mm long, palmate divided in inflorescences leaves, the shares usually shorter than flowers; shares close deltoid, pointed or linear, parallel, blunt, hairy. Flower stems 1.0 - 2.0 mm long, densely long fiber. Calyx (7.0) 10.0 - 12.0 (-18.0) mm long and (2.0) 4.0 to 5.0 (-7.0) mm wide pipe-like bell-shaped, densely long fitting to strong spread fiber to slightly semi outspread fiber, improper; triangular teeth to styliform, unequal to each other, substantially shorter than the tube, the latter after overblown more or less  bubble gummy, sometimes on the top redden. Corolla 13.0 - 14.0 mm long, yellow, red, orange, purple or yellowish white to whitish. Flag 5.0 - 6.0 mm wide, back heart-shaped ovoid, on top entire, heart-shaped at the base, with ear-like appendages, suddenly narrowed into a long (4.0 - 5.0 MM) thin claw; longer than the wings and keel, naked. Elliptical shovels similar wings, at the base of unclear elliptical appendage, more or less symmetrically narrowed in thin, long claws longer than the keel, naked. The keel elliptical, at the base with long slender claws, goals. Beans 5.0 mm long and 3.0 mm wide, on a stem up to 3.0 mm long, ovoid spherical, short peaked, naked, net wrinkled, brown, fully included in the durable calyx, no cracks or less cleavage long after maturation, single (rarely two) seed. Seeds 1.8 - 2.0 mm long and 1.3 - 1.5 mm wide, ovoid lenticular, brown, smooth.

Note. Highly polymorphic species with numerous local variations. The most widely distributed is subsp. bulgarica, while subsp. pulchella is limited mainly in the central part of southern and western Bulgaria, a subsp. vitellina - mainly in the alpine belt of Pirin. There are numerous transitions between the different subspecies, especially between bulgarica - vitellina, bulgarica - pulchella, while polyphylla is presented mainly in the western part of the country with transitional forms to bulgarica.
