Description:

A perennial plant. Tuber-bulb almost spherical, with gentle net fibrous sheath. Overhead parts, including blossom, 12 - 18 cm. The leaves 2 - 3, naked, with a narrow keel (1/5 lamina), develop simultaneously with the blossoms. Spatha two-leaf, longer than the leaf sheaths. Blossoms are usually single, 3 - 4.5 cm. The perianth blue violet (often white), with a broad and blunt shares. Stamens with yellow anthers and white stems, equal length. The bar orange, slightly tripartite longer than stamens. The seeds oval, with short verrucose growths, raspberry to dark red.

Distribution in Bulgaria: Grow in moderately dry to moist grassy places and along the melting snow, drifts in all mountains. It grows over 2000 meters altitude. (Conspectus of the Bulgarian Vascular Flora) = conspectus&gs_l= Zlc.
