Description:Herzförmiges Knabenkraut
Beschreibung: Pflanze 10 - 40 cm hoch, selten etwas höher. Stengel hohl, oberwärts kantig. Laubblätter meist 4 - 5, am Stengel verteilt, leicht gefaltet, schräg seitlich abstehend, dunkelgrün, oberseits ziemlich groB und dicht schwarzviolett gefleckt, kurz bis länger eiförmig, das unterste gewöhnlich kurz und relativ breit, abgerundet, die mittleren 6 - 7 cm lang, 3 - 5 cm breit, das oberste tragblattartig, spitz auslaufend, den Grund des Blütenstandes erreichend. Blütenstand kurz und breit, eiförmig bis fast kugelig. Blüten dunkelrotviolett. Tragblätter lang, die untersten länger als die Blüten, purpurn überlaufen. Sepalen eiförmig-lanzettlich, die seitlichen schräg aufwarts gerichtet, das mittlere stark nach vorne übergekrümmt. Petalen breit- eiförmig, kürzer und breiter als die Sepalen. Lippe groß und breit, 8 - 10 mm lang, 11 - 17 mm breit, queroval bis herzförmig, höchstens schwach dreilappig, am Rande gekerbt und gewellt, Mittelteil der Lippe sehr hell mit dunklen Linien. Sporn charakteristisch, kurz (5 - 7 mm lang), am Grunde 4 - 5 mm breit, gegen die Spitze sich rasch verjüngend, schräg abwärts gerichtet.
Bliitezeit: Von Ende Mai bis Juli, je nach Höhenlage.
Hohenverbreitung: Von 900 - 2200 m.
Standort: An Bachufern, in Quellmooren und in feuchten Bergwiesen, im allgemeinen auf kalkarmem Untergrund.
Bastarde: Mit Dactylorhiza maculata und saccifera, Pseudorchis frivaldii.

Description: 10 - 40 cm high plant, rarely a little higher. Stem hollow, upper ward edged. Leaves usually 4 - 5, distributed on the stem, slightly folded, obliquely laterally protruding, dark green, top covered with quite large and thick black violet spots, short to longer ovoid, the bottom is usually short and relatively wide, rounded, the middle 6 - 7 cm long, 3 - 5 cm wide, the uppermost bract-like with pointed apexes, the base of the inflorescence reaching. Inflorescence short and broad, ovoid to nearly spherical. Blossoms dark violet. Bracts long, the lowest overrun longer than the blossoms, purple. Sepals ovate-lanceolate, the lateral directed obliquely forward, the located in the middle sharply bent forward. Petals broad-ovate, shorter and wider than the sepals. Lip large and wide, 8 - 10 mm long, 11 - 17 mm wide, transverse oval to heart-shaped, most weakly three-lobed, notched and wavy on the edge, central part of the lip very bright with dark lines. Sporn characteristic, short (5 - 7 mm long), at the bottom 4 - 5 mm wide, towards the apex rapidly tapering, inclined downwards.
Flowering time: From late May to July depending on the altitude.
Height Spread: From 900 - 2200 m.
Habitat:On river banks, in source bogs and wet meadows, generally on a low lime subsoil.
Bastards: With Dactylorhiza maculata and saccifera, Pseudorchis frivaldii.
