Description:

Perennial green or bluish green plant, up to 30 cm, forming usually loose-textured tufts. Leaves almost seta-like, dilated near its middle, the top tapered; basal 1 - 2 cm long, linear seta-like, stem leaves usually 2 - 5 pairs. Scales in the calyx (2) 4 (8) mm long, elliptical or oval, tapered or styliform tip reaching 1/5 - 1/4 of the length of the skirt. Calyx closely cylindrical, (12) 20 - 32 mm in length, (2) 3 - 4 mm wide, expanding medium, often blackish. Lamina of petals 4 - 10 mm in length, up to 3 times shorter than the nail, naked or upper surface slightly hairy, entire, toothed or deeply slashed, white, rarely pink.

Economic significance. Suitable for planting on artificial rock groups.
