Perennials. Rhizome dark brown, branched, almost horizontally, with thin roots. Stems (30) 40 - 80 cm tall, erect, rose slightly arched at the base, usually simple, more or less covered with soft hairs. Basal leaves 5 - 10 cm long, 2 - 3 cm wide, ovate lanceolate, narrowed to the base in 1 - 2 cm long stems, during flowering usually sapless; lower and middle stem leaves back ovoid to ovoid elongated ovoid or elliptical, 8 - 5 (-20) cm long and 3 - 5 cm wide, the base narrowed into a short stem or sessile, half covering, with rare teeth the edges or almost entire, on both sides, especially veins covered with cloth; outer 2 - 4 cm long, oblong lanceolate, gradually passing into bracts. The inflorescence 10 - 20 cm long, with many blossoms, loose cluster; inflorescence axis densely covered with short, simple and glandular hairs. Blossom stems 1 - 2 mm long, the blossoms almost sessile, horizontally spreading or curved downward. Bracts linear lanceolate, usually equal blossoms, the lowest 2 times as long as the blossomrs. The shares of the calyx 4 - 6 mm long, linear lancet, sharp with 5 - 7 veins. Corolla 10 - 20 mm long and about 5 mm wide, covered with multicellular glandular hairs, greenish yellow, narrowly cylindrical tube, at the base expanded, then slightly narrowed and up again expanded with numerous clearly visible veins, 1 - 2 cm long; upper lip with blunt or pointed shares; lower with almost equally long triangular, tapered shares or the middle share 1 - 2 mm longer than the lateral, much shorter than the tube. Box 5 - 7 mm long and 2 - 3 mm wide, ovate rounded, dull, covered with a cloth. Seeds brown, irregular quadrilateral prism.
Flowering Time: Blooms: V - VI, fruitful: VII - VIII.

Distribution in Bulgaria: Grows in forests in the mountains. Widespread from 800 until around 2300 meters altitude. (Conspectus of the Bulgarian Vascular Flora) = conspectus&gs_l= Zlc.
Distribution: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Macedonia, FRY (Serbia and Montenegro), Slovenia, Croatia and Turkey. Balkan endemic.
