Description:

Perennial rhizomе or annual herbaceous plants; in perennial species the aboveground stem is usually undeveloped. Leaves consecutive, in basal rosette or stem, entire, entire or fine serrated to serrated, sat down or on petioles. Baskets heterogamous, with many blossoms, bell-shaped, single or numerous on long petioles protruding from the rosettes or on the stem branches. Wrapping leaves in 2 rows, almost identical, tile-like overlapping, when ripe the fruit is upright. Flower bed conical to almost flat, glabrous, without bracts. The blossoms are unevenly colored; external tongue, in 1 row, female, white, often pink to red; inner tubular, numerous, bisexual, yellow. The anthers are blunt at the base. The style with flat stigma. Fruits uniform, ovate to back ovoid, flattened, thickened at the edge, smooth, usually fibrous. The kite is missing or in the form of a ring with very short bristles. Insect pollinated; propagated by seeds and vegetative shoots.

Bellis is a genus of flowering plants in the daisy family.[4][2]
The group is native to Europe, the Mediterranean and northern Africa. One species has been introduced into North America and others into other parts of the world.[5][6] The genus includes the familiar common daisy Bellis perennis.

Bellis species are mostly perennials, and grow from 5–20 cm (2–8 in) tall. They have simple erect stems, and most species have basal leaves. They have radiate flower heads that are produced one per stem.[5]
