Description:
High, biennial, prickly plants with large, opposite leaves. Blossomss collected prickly heads, wrapped several lance leaflets; bracts as spiny leaflets. The outer cup with 4, rarely 8 edges and 4 short teeth; corolla 4 separate; stamens 4. Ovary single station, with one pedicle.
