English Name: Sheep’s bitDescription: Perennial, biennial or annual herbaceous plants. Stems simple, rarely branched, upright or ascending, blurred four edges or cylindrical with a shallowly ribbed surface, bare or fibrous. The leaves are consecutive, sitting down, entire or to varying degrees jagged. Blossoms on short stems or sitting down, without bracts, collected in heads, at the base with envelopes of convicts. The calyx with 5 shares. Corolla longer than calyx, blue, purple, rarely almost white, deep 5-cut; the shares closely back lance to linearly lance. Stamens 5 with ribbed stems fastened to the base of the shares of the crown; the anthers at the base grown in a tube, less often free. The carpellum with a lower ovary with central placentation and with many sepsis. The style in the upper 1/4 - 1/3 fiber with 2 short stigmas. The fruit two-sided has a broad two-cone back conical or back egg box that opens with 2 flaps located at the top and part. The seeds are numerous, oblong, small, brown, with a shiny surface. The plants are pollinated by insects, propagated with seeds and vegetative.
Business significance. The species distributed in Bulgaria have relatively large blue and blue purple, often numerous inflorescences (J. heldreichii, J. orbiculata). They have appropriate decorative qualities for rock corners and other colored groups. Good honey plants.
