Description:

Perennial plant. Stems 20 - 40 cm tall, unbranched or in the upper part with long branches, in the lower and middle part naked, short-fibrous under the inflorescences, wrapped at the bottom. Leaves of non-blossoming rosettes ovoid-lance, entire or livers, jagged, with long stems, naked; stem leaves lobar or 1 - 2 times feathery, with linear shares, bare, or rim with scattered, short hairs. Inflorescences radiant, spherical headlamps, 2 - 3 cm in diameter; inflorescence stems long, under the inflorescence with short, dense, prostrate hairs; the tegumental leaflets are narrowly lance, equal in length to the flowers, with short, prostrate hairs. The outer calyx with a long fibrous tube, without pits, with 8 ribs and furrows; the crown about 2 times shorter than the tube, on the edge jagged; the inner calyx with a short stem and 6 mm long black awn, four times longer than the crown. The corolla of the peripheral flowers slightly longer than the central, yellow.

Flowering Time: Blooms: VII - VIII, fruitful:  VIII - IX.

Distribution in Bulgaria: Growing on dry grassy and rocky places. Stara Planina (Western and Central), Vitosha district (Vitosha), Pirin, Rila, mountains over 1300 m altitude. (Conspectus of the Bulgarian Vascular Flora) = conspectus&gs_l= Zlc.

Distribution: Southeast Europe (Balkan Peninsula - Serbia, Republic of Macedonia). Balkan endemic.
